MI Skipper Hardik Pandya Penalized By IPL

MUMBAI- Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has been fined 10 per cent of his match fee and handed one Demerit Point for breaching Level 1 of the IPL Code of Conduct during Mumbai Indians’ IPL 2026 match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

In a statement, the IPL said, “Hardik Pandya was found to have breached Article 2.2 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which pertains to ‘abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings’ during a match.”

The incident took place on the fourth ball of the 10th over in the second innings, when the Mumbai Indians skipper, while walking back to his run-up, forcefully knocked the bails off the wicket.

The IPL added, “Hardik Pandya admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction imposed by Match Referee Rajiv Seth.”

Mumbai Indians, already eliminated from the playoff race, suffered a four-wicket defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders in the match. (IANS)
