Modi – King Charles Discuss Climate Change
LONDON- Prime Minister Narendra Modi met King Charles III at Sandringham House here, following the signing of the historic India-UK Free Trade Agreement.
During the meeting, on July 24 the Prime Minister presented King Charles with a tree sapling for planting later this year. This gift was inspired by the Prime Minister’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (A Tree For Mother) initiative, an environmental campaign that encourages individuals to plant a tree in tribute to their mothers. This initiative was recently launched as a national movement focused on environmental sustainability.
Modi highlighted King Charles’ enthusiasm for nature, environment, and sustainable living, noting that his participation in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ movement would inspire people globally. He also confirmed discussions on environmental protection and sustainability.
The two leaders also discussed ways to collaborate on their shared vision regarding climate change and sustainability, with Modi apprising King Charles of India’s progress in the renewable energy sector.
Prime Minister Modi shared his happiness at King Charles’ recovery and his resumption of royal duties. They also spoke about education, health, and wellness, with a particular focus on Yoga and Ayurveda, subjects for which King Charles has a strong passion. (IANS)
