Mukesh Ambani Flies To Doha To Meet Trump

MUMBAI – Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries, is en route to Doha to attend a state dinner hosted by the Emir of Qatar in honor of President Donald Trump. The exclusive gathering will take place tonight at Lusail Palace.

Although no formal business discussions are scheduled, Ambani’s visit comes at a time when his conglomerate’s interests remain closely linked to U.S. policy decisions, CNBC pointe out.

Last year, Reliance Industries received a special exemption from the U.S. government allowing it to resume crude oil imports from Venezuela. However, in March, the company was forced to halt those imports after Trump endorsed a 25% tariff on countries purchasing Venezuelan oil.

Reliance also exports refined fuels such as gasoline—produced from crude oil sourced from countries like Russia—into the American market, making U.S. regulatory decisions particularly relevant to its operations.

Ambani has a long history of interactions with the Trump family. He was present at the January inauguration and during Ivanka Trump’s visit to Hyderabad for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in 2017, when she served as a senior advisor to the President.

Earlier this year, Ivanka, her husband Jared Kushner, and their daughter Arabella Rose were among those at the pre-wedding celebrations of Ambani’s son, Anant Ambani in Gujarat.
