LOS ANGELES, CA – Navdeep Singh (Duncan) Sachdeva has been appointed to the Central Area Planning Commission by Mayor Karen Bass, with the Los Angeles City Council unanimously approving the decision on January 22.

The Central Area Planning Commission plays a pivotal role in shaping the urban landscape of Los Angeles. As one of seven regional commissions, the APC oversees appeals on land use matters, including conditional use permits, variances, and zoning adjustments. In many cases, the APC serves as the final authority, with its decisions influencing housing policies, economic development, and neighborhood planning.

Sachdeva brings a wealth of experience to the commission, having worked for over a decade in real estate asset and portfolio management. His professional background is complemented by extensive civic leadership, including roles with the Los Feliz Neighborhood Council and the Los Feliz Improvement Association. These positions, he said, have equipped him with firsthand experience in community advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and addressing urban planning challenges.

“This role carries a profound responsibility to ensure that land use decisions are made fairly, equitably, and in the best interest of all stakeholders. With my background in real estate and community engagement, I will work to uphold transparency, balance economic development with neighborhood integrity, and contribute to a planning process that reflects the needs of both current residents and future generations,” he said after learning of the appointment.
