Navies Of US, India, Australia, Japan Strengthen Ties In Andhra Pradesh
VISAKHAPATNAM, (ANI) – As part of the ongoing Multilateral Maritime Exercise Malabar 2024, navies from India, Australia, Japan, and the United States have been engaged in collaborative activities since October 9 here, in Andhra Pradesh, under the coordination of the Eastern Naval Command.
The Indian defense ministry said these activities included key leadership engagement, expert exchanges, cross-deck visits, sports fixtures, and pre-sailing discussions. The aim was to enhance maritime cooperation, build camaraderie, and foster operational synergy.
The leadership engagement between senior naval officials was a highlight of the exercise at the harbor level. Expert exchanges and cross-deck visits provided valuable opportunities for knowledge-sharing, promoting deeper understanding and collaboration on maritime security.
In addition to naval operations, crews from the four nations participated in friendly sports events, reinforcing teamwork and friendship. The theme of “Stronger Together” extended beyond the seas, symbolizing the spirit of Malabar 2024. An Indian dinner also enhanced cultural familiarity between the navies.
Following the harbor activities, pre-sailing discussions will focus on strategies to ensure operational synergy during the upcoming sea phase in the Bay of Bengal, scheduled to begin on October 14.
The Malabar exercise is led by India this year, with leadership rotating annually among the participating nations. This rotation, along with the changing exercise location, demonstrates the combined ability of these nations to operate across the Indo-Pacific, supporting regional security and stability.
