LOS ANGELES, CA – Netflix’s shareholder letter for the final quarter of 2025 delivered a major surprise, revealing that the streaming giant surpassed 325 million global paid subscribers during the period.
The company reported fourth-quarter earnings of 56 cents per share on revenue of $12.157 billion, beating expectations. Revenue rose 17.6 percent year over year, driven in part by the continued growth of Netflix’s advertising supported tier. For the full year 2025, advertising revenue topped $1.5 billion, the company said.
Netflix posted fourth-quarter operating income of $2.957 billion, with an operating margin of 24.5 percent. Net income for the quarter came in at $2.419 billion.
Three months earlier, Netflix had projected fourth-quarterprofit of $2.355 billion on $11.96 billion in revenue, with expected operating income of $2.86 billion, highlighting the scale of the outperformance.
On the content front, ‘Stranger Things 5’ emerged as Netflix’s biggest fourth-quarter driver. Viewership for the series, combined with Netflix’s Christmas Day NFL games, resulted in what the company described as the largest single streaming day and month in US history.
Netflix is currently in the process of acquiring Warner Bros. On January 20, the company revised its $83 billion offer to an all cash bid, aligning its proposal with the structure of Paramount’s competing offer, which continues to be declined.
