New Envoy Vinay Mohan Kwatra, Arrives In Washington

WASHINGTON, DC – Vinay Mohan Kwatra, India’s newly appointed Ambassador to the US, arrived in the American capital on August 12. Kwatra, 61, most recently served as India’s Foreign Secretary.
“Delighted to welcome Ambassador Vinay Mohan Kwatra as the new Ambassador of India to the United States of America. All of us at the Indian Embassy are excited to work under his leadership,” said Charge d’Affaires Sripriya Ranganathan in a video post which detailed all the highlights when she was the interim envoy.
Kwatra, who previously served as Minister of Commerce at the Indian Embassy in the US, is expected to present his credentials to President Joe Biden shortly. He has also held positions as India’s Ambassador to France and Nepal, before his tenure as Foreign Secretary. He retired from the foreign service on July 14, 2024.
