Nikki Haley Says She Is Eyeing White House

LAS VEGAS, NV – Indian American Nikki Haley, the former Governor of South Carolina has once again hinted she could run for president in 2024 while delivering a speech at the Republican Jewish Coalition Annual Leadership Meeting, here.
She said, “A lot of people have asked if I’m going to run for president now that the midterms are over. I’ll look at it in a serious way and I’ll have more to say soon.”
Haley added on November 19, “If my family and I decide to continue our life of service, we will put 1,000% into it and we’ll finish it. For now, I’ll say this. I’ve won tough primaries and tough general elections. I’ve been the underdog every single time. When people underestimate me, it’s always fun. But I’ve never lost an election. And I’m not going to start now.”
A member of the Donald Trump administration, she had made a calculated exit from his orbit, gathering the heft of being the country’s UN Ambassador that helped pad her resume. Her political calculation might have paid off as she has not been stained by the events of January 6.
But other things might not go in her favor with the Republican base: The Epoch Times pointed out she had promised not to run for the office if her former boss did. Trump is the only Republican candidate currently in the race as he officially announced his bid at his Mar-a-Lago estate on November 15.
The other thing that might have voters looking at her askance was her comments during the recent midterms, when she told Republicans at a rally for Herschel Walker, that the Democrat in the GA Senate race, Rev Raphael Warnock, should be “deported.” The media reported her as saying, “I am the daughter of Indian immigrants. They came here legally, they put in the time, they put in the price, and they are offended by what’s happening on [the southern US] border. Legal immigrants are more patriotic than the leftists these days. They knew they worked to come into America, and they love America. They want the laws followed in America, so the only person we need to make sure we deport is Warnock.”
