Pakistan Says It Anticipates Military Action By India
ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s defense minister said that a military incursion by India appeared imminent following last week’s deadly militant attack on tourists in Kashmir, escalating tensions between the two neighbors, Reuters reported on April 28.
The attack, which killed 26 people, sparked widespread outrage in India and renewed calls for action against Pakistan. India has long accused Pakistan of supporting militancy in Kashmir.
In an interview with Reuters at his office in Islamabad, defense minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said Pakistan had reinforced its military positions in anticipation of potential Indian action.
In his remarks, Asif said that Pakistan would only consider using its nuclear weapons if there was a “direct threat to our existence.” His comments come amid growing concerns that any military escalation between India and Pakistan could quickly spiral given their nuclear capabilities.
According to Reuters, Asif stated that India’s political rhetoric was intensifying and that Pakistan’s military had briefed the government on the possibility of an attack. He declined to provide specific details about why Islamabad believes an incursion is imminent.
Following the attack, India named two suspects it said were Pakistani nationals, while Islamabad strongly denied any involvement and called for a neutral international investigation into the incident.

India needs to come up with a final solution. Pakistan must be defeated in such a way where its leaders realize that their only strategy is to pursue peace (not war). India needs to stop the flow of water as quickly as possible. India will only resume the flow of water under these 3 conditions (1) Pakistan hands over all of Kashmir to India (2) Hand Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur to India (3) Drop their nuclear weapons. I am sympathetic to the people of Pakistan who had nothing to do with the terror attacks in India. However, at the same time, these people must realize that their government is a actively hurting Indians. Perhaps the lack of water will give the average Pakistani citizen the push to stand up against their government, and demand that they pursue peace, and not war, with India.
