‘Paro’ Takes Aim At Bride Slavery

HOLLYWOOD, CA – Los Angeles-based Hopeblit, through its social impact division A Voices Unheard Films, has partnered with the upcoming film Paro: The Untold Story of Bride Slavery to shed light on the devastating realities endured by women trapped in bride slavery. With actress, writer, and producer Trupti Bhoir leading the project alongside producers Sandeep Sharda and Priya Samant, and directed by award-winning filmmaker Gajendra Ahire, Paro makes a powerful point. Satish Chakravarthy provides the film’s score, creating a powerful backdrop for this essential narrative.
Ruhi, also known as Rohini Hak, founder of A Voices Unheard Films, was instrumental in bringing in prominent Hollywood figure Metta World Peace as executive producer, a press release said. The cast features Taha Shah Badussha of Heeramandi fame and Trupti Bhoir, known for her Oscar-listed Touring Talkies. Bhoir has emphasized the film’s core mission to reveal these hidden atrocities and advocate for the basic human rights of affected women: “This film is my fight for their rights.”
Metta World Peace, alongside Akio Tyler, joins Bhoir in a shared mission to empower women: “Every woman deserves to be heard, valued, and empowered,” they stated. “By sharing these stories, we aim to amplify the voices of women enduring the horrors of bride slavery, ensuring their struggles are seen worldwide and inspire real change.”
The project brings together Hollywood and Bollywood, bridging cultural boundaries in line with Hopeblit’s commitment to tangible social impact. Supporters including Tess Cacciatore of the Global Women’s Empowerment Network, several community individuals and organizations including Sunil Agrawal, and Miss America Shree Saini, Aashi Makan, Vijay Patil, Roopa Sharma, Neeti Goel, Sandeep Marwah, Sudheer Kota, and the Sewa Foundation.
