BRENTWOOD, CA – The Punjabi Cultural Association (PCA) Brentwood organized a “Dheeyan Di Lohri” celebration on February 8, an event dedicated to daughters. Singers Sukhdev Sahil and Mandeep Sidhu performed for nearly two hours, engaging the audience.

Traditionally, Lohri marks the arrival of longer days after the winter solstice and is often associated with the birth of male children. “Dheeyan Di Lohri” is an effort to emphasize the importance of daughters and promote gender equality.

The event featured a performance by the “Raunak Punjab Di” Gidha team, a group of local Punjabi women. Held in an open-air setting, the event drew around 300 attendees despite the smaller Punjabi community in the area.

PCA Brentwood Chairman Bhupinder Singh Bajwa noted that this year’s event was well-received and announced the association’s participation in the upcoming American Independence Day
