Poll Shows Raja Leading Illinois Senate Primary By Wide Margin
India-West Staff Reporter
CHICAGO, IL — Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi holds the strongest name recognition in the Illinois U.S. Senate Democratic primary and a commanding lead over his rivals, according to new polling released August 12 by the Impact Fund, the political arm of Indian American Impact.
The survey of likely Democratic primary voters found Krishnamoorthi recognized by 88% of respondents — far ahead of other contenders. In a three-way matchup with Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton and Rep. Robin Kelly, he led by 21 points, garnering 38% to Stratton’s 17% and Kelly’s 7%, with 37% undecided.
When those undecided voters were pressed to make a choice, Krishnamoorthi’s support rose above 50%, a threshold the Impact Fund says “cements his majority backing among Democratic voters.”
“Raja’s laser-sharp focus on protecting access to Social Security and Medicare, lowering health care costs, and tackling the rising cost of living is clearly resonating across the state,” said Impact Fund Executive Director Chintan Patel in a statement accompanying the poll.
The poll, conducted by Z to A Research from August 8–10, surveyed 615 likely 2026 Illinois Democratic primary voters and has a margin of error of ±3.95%.
