MUMBAI – Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta broke her silence regarding her team’s heartbreaking six-run loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final.

Taking to Instagram, Zinta expressed immense pride in her team and their “spectacular” journey, promising fans that the “job is still half done.”

The nail-biting final at Ahmedabad saw both teams vying for their maiden IPL title. Despite a valiant effort from Shashank Singh, who scored a blistering 61 not out off just 30 balls, PBKS ultimately fell short by six runs.

In her emotional Instagram post, Zinta reflected on the season, stating, “It didn’t end the way we wanted it to, but…the journey was spectacular! It was exciting, entertaining & it was inspiring.” She praised the “fight & the grit” shown by her young team, affectionately calling them “shers” (lions). Zinta also highlighted the exceptional leadership of captain Shreyas Iyer, their “Sarpanch,” and commended how “Indian uncapped players dominated this IPL!”

The Punjab Kings faced significant challenges throughout the tournament, including key player injuries, a mid-season pause, and the relocation of home games. Yet, Zinta expressed immense pride that they overcame these hurdles, topping the points table for the first time in a decade and battling fiercely until the very end.

Zinta extended her heartfelt gratitude to every player for their character and thanked the support staff for an incredible season. Most notably, she offered a profound thank you to the “SHER SQUAD” – the dedicated fan base that stood by the team through thick and thin. “Whatever we are & how far we have reached is all because of you,” she acknowledged.

Concluding her message with a resolute vow for the future, Zinta promised, “I promise we will come back to finish the job cuz as of now the job is still half done.”
