Rahman’s First National Award And Latest Have Mani Ratnam Effect
NEW DELHI, (ANI) – Composer A R Rahman won yet another National Award for background score for the film Ponniyin Selvan I. This is his second in the category and seventh win.
Rahman said, “My first National Film Award was for the film ‘Roja’ with Mani Ratnam. This film is also with him. Whenever I work with him it is very special, he gets the best out of all of us. And since it’s a National award, I’m proud of it,”.
Mani Ratnam said about Rahman, “It’s amazing that from the first film he did to know, he is getting recognized and being appreciated”.
Directed by Mani Ratnam, the film stars Vikram, Trisha Krishnan Karthik Sivakumar, Jayam Ravi and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead roles.
Ponniyin Selvan-Part 1 is a cinematic adaptation of author Kalki Krishnamurthy’s Tamil novel of the same name. It marks the third collaboration of Aishwarya with south actor Vikram after Mani Ratnam’s acclaimed film Raavan in 2010.
