MUMBAI – Entrepreneur Raj Kundra, husband of actor Shilpa Shetty, is stepping into the spotlight once again—this time, as a contestant on the upcoming reality series The Traitors, hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar.

Kundra opened up about his unique strategy going into the game, referencing his often-discussed history of wearing masks in public. “Whenever I have worn a mask in my life, people have wondered what I’m hiding. There’s always been a mystery around it, and I think that might actually work in my favor on this show,” he shared.

With his trademark wit, Kundra also quipped about leveraging his relationship with Johar. “‘The Traitors’ is a Kalyug show—meaning, in this era of darkness, it’s tough to tell friends from foes. But with Karan Johar sir hosting it, I’ll definitely be playing the ‘nepo-husband’ card,” he joked, drawing laughter from the audience.

The Traitors is the Indian adaptation of the popular Dutch series De Verraders, which debuted in 2021 and has since been recreated in more than 30 countries, including the U.S., U.K., and Australia.

Set against the majestic backdrop of Rajasthan’s Suryagarh Palace, the high-stakes competition brings together 20 contestants from across the entertainment world. Notable names include Karan Kundrra, rapper Raftaar, Jasmin Bhasin, Jannat Zubair, Uorfi Javed, Anshula Kapoor, and Maheep Kapoor, among others.

The twist? While all players will compete in tasks to win a hefty cash prize, a select few will be secretly chosen by Johar as “traitors” whose mission is to eliminate fellow contestants—while the rest attempt to unmask them before it’s too late.

The Traitors will stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video starting June 12, with fresh episodes dropping every Thursday.
