WASHINGTON, DC
– Raj Shah, the GOP official who first rose to prominence during the Trump administration, is set to leave his role as deputy chief of staff for communications for House Speaker Mike Johnson later this month.

Shah’s planned departure from Speaker Johnson’s team comes amidst the exit of multiple policy staffers who previously worked for former Speaker Kevin McCarthy. Axios reported that Shah has been a crucial link to Trump allies as Johnson navigates challenges from conservative hardliners, pointed out Axios.

In a statement, Shah said it was a honor in serving Speaker Johnson during a historic period, praising Johnson’s leadership and commitment to tough decisions for the nation’s and institution’s sake. Speaker Johnson, in turn, thanked Shah for his service, describing him as a trusted advisor who built an impressive communications team.

This position marked Shah’s debut on Capitol Hill, having previously served as the White House deputy press secretary under President Trump and later as senior vice president at Fox Corporation.

At Fox, Shah played a significant role in steering the network in a more pro-Trump direction post-2020 election. His tenure ended last May, following Fox’s settlement with Dominion Voting Systems for over $787 million which was focused on the tumult that went on in the organization which was trying to prevent the calling of the election for Joe Biden. The lawsuit exposed internal communications, including Shah’s emails and texts which worked against Fox.
