WASHINGTON, DC (ANI) – Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth reaffirmed their commitment to the US-India Major Defense Partnership during an introductory call on February 6. The discussion focused on strengthening operational cooperation and advancing defense industrial and technological collaboration to deter aggression in the Indo-Pacific.

The US Department of Defense released a statement highlighting the leaders’ agreement to pursue an ambitious agenda aimed at accelerating bilateral defense ties. It also noted that Hegseth looks forward to holding the next 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue and finalizing the next ten-year US-India Defense Framework this year.

Singh shared on X that their conversation reviewed existing defense cooperation and explored ways to further deepen ties, covering areas such as operations, intelligence, logistics, and defense-industrial collaboration.

The 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue, co-chaired by India’s External Affairs and Defense Ministers alongside their US counterparts, serves as the highest-level institutional mechanism for political, military, and strategic discussions.
