Randeep Hooda, Lin Laishram Wed In Traditional Manipuri Style
IMPHAL (ANI) – In Imphal, actors Randeep Hooda and Lin Laishram exchanged wedding vows in a traditional Manipuri ceremony at the Chumthang Shannapung resort.
The groom, Randeep Hooda, embraced the elegance of Manipuri attire, donning a majestic white ensemble, complete with a traditional white shawl. Lin Laishram, the bride, radiated grace in a Potloi or Polloi, a cylindrical skirt adorned with thick cloth, bamboo, satin, velvet, gems, and glitter.
The wedding ceremony showcased the couple’s commitment to blending cultures, with Randeep expressing excitement about experiencing the rich traditions of Manipuri weddings. In a media interaction, he shared, “I felt that it’s only respectful to come and marry in the bride’s tradition.” Despite the anticipation of enduring a lengthy ceremony, he eagerly looked forward to immersing himself in Lin’s cultural heritage.
Lin, reminiscing about the beginning of their journey, revealed that they met at Naseeruddin Shah’s theatre group, Motley, where Randeep was her senior. What started as a friendship evolved into a beautiful journey, leading to their marriage.
The couple had previously hinted at their impending nuptials on Instagram, drawing inspiration from the Mahabharata’s Arjuna and Manipuri Warrior Princess Chitrangada.
Randeep announced their wedding date as November 29, 2023, in Imphal, with a reception planned in Mumbai. Their social media interactions, including festive posts and birthday wishes, subtly confirmed their relationship even before the official announcement.
Lin Laishram, known for her Bollywood debut in ‘Om Shanti Om’ and appearances in films like ‘Mary Kom’ and ‘Rangoon,’ brings her own artistic flair to the union. Randeep Hooda, acclaimed for roles in ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai’ and ‘Rang Rasiya,’ is set to star in the biopic ‘Swatantra Veer Savarkar,’ where he will be paired with ‘Pavitra Rishta’ fame Ankita Lokhande. The film, directed and co-written by Randeep himself, explores the life of freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar.
