Ranveer Singh Agrees To Revise Apology In ‘Kantara’ Mimicry Case
BENGALURU- Ranveer Singh on April 10 told the Karnataka High Court that he is willing to work with the complainant to revise the wording of his apology affidavit in a case related to his mimicry of a character from the film ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’.
The submission came after the complainant argued that the actor’s affidavit did not adequately express remorse.
The court was hearing Singh’s petition seeking to quash an FIR registered against him over the incident during the 56th International Film Festival of India in Goa last year.
Senior advocate Sajan Poovayya, appearing for Singh, told Justice M. Nagaprasanna that an affidavit of apology had already been filed and assured the court that a revised version addressing the complainant’s concerns would be prepared.
The complainant’s counsel sought a clearer and more specific apology, stating that the intent in the affidavit had not been properly conveyed.
After hearing both sides, the court adjourned the matter to April 23 and directed that a revised affidavit be filed.
The case relates to Singh allegedly mimicking a role played by actor Rishab Shetty and referring to a deity as a “female ghost” during an event, which drew objections.
An FIR was subsequently registered, and Singh has approached the High Court seeking to quash it. The court had earlier stayed any punitive action against him. (IANS)
