MUMBAI – Sridevi, one of India’s greatest female superstars, reigned over the entertainment industry alongside legends like Amitabh Bachchan, Jeetendra, and Dharmendra. She passed away on February 24, 2018, in Dubai.

Spanning over five decades, Sridevi’s illustrious career earned her numerous prestigious awards, including the Padma Shri—India’s fourth-highest civilian honor—in 2013. She made her acting debut at the age of four in the 1967 Tamil film ‘Kandhan Karunai’ and later stepped into Bollywood with ‘Rani Mera Naam’ (1972).

ChaalBaaz
In this film, she effortlessly played twin sisters—timid Anju and fearless Manju. Her impeccable comic timing cemented her status as one of Bollywood’s most versatile actors.

Lamhe
Reuniting with Yash Chopra, Sridevi portrayed both mother and daughter, earning widespread acclaim for her dual performance.

English Vinglish
After a 15-year hiatus, Sridevi made a triumphant comeback with Gauri Shinde’s ‘English Vinglish.’ Premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, the film introduced her brilliance to a new generation. (ANI)
