ATLANTA, GA – The South Asian Bar Association of Georgia (SABA-GA) hosted its  eighth annual gala, an unforgettable evening at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History. The night began with a mesmerizing performance by Atl Satrangi and celebrated the work of the Asian American Advocacy Fund, which advocates for the rights of Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders, and Native Hawaiians in Georgia.

Keynote speaker Paul Grewal, Chief Legal Officer of Coinbase, delivered a powerful speech on the importance of representation and mentorship, reminding attendees of the strength found in supporting one another. A highlight of the evening was Wab Kadaba receiving the Achievement Award for his remarkable contributions to the legal profession and the South Asian community.

The gala also marked a personal milestone for SABA-GA President Waqar Khawaja, founder of Legal Recruitment and AI Solutions, who reflected on the profound impact the organization has had on his career and life. Since joining the board in 2017, he said he has witnessed countless peers benefit from the organization’s vast networking opportunities. What began as a professional commitment evolved into deep personal relationships, including meeting his spouse, launching multiple ventures, and forging lifelong friendships.

As Khawaja steps down as president, he expressed confidence in SABA-GA’s future under president-elect Karina Deochand and acknowledged the growth and strength of the community.
