LONDON – ‘What’s Love Got to do with it?’ the movie produced by Jemima Goldsmith, the former wife of Pakistan’s Imran Khan and the renowned filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, bagged four awards at the UK National Film Awards which was held on July 3.

Not only did the romantic comedy win Best Film but Shekhar Kapur won the Best Director award while Jemima Khan, who wrote the screenplay won that category for her brilliance.

Shekhar Kapur, the maker of films like ‘Mr.India’ and ‘Elizabeth’ said on social media: “Thank you @nationalfilmawards for this very unexpected honor. But this award really belongs to Team What’s Love … For a director is merely a sum total of his/her team ..” He is now working on a sequel to his directorial hit debut film ‘Masoom.’

Jemima Khan too shared pictures on Twitter. “No one likes a show-off. But wooohooo!!! We won 4 National Film Awards for our film What’s Love Got to Do with It? last night and I felt so grateful and happy. Best screenplay, Best British Film, Best Director, and Best Supporting Actor. Thank you and well done to the entire team,” she tweeted.

The film had been nominated in nine categories.
