VANCOUVER – A shooting occurred outside the residence of Punjabi singer Prem Dhillon in Canada on February 3, with the Jaipal Bhullar gang claiming responsibility for the incident. The shooting is the latest in a series of violent incidents involving Punjabi music figures in Canada, following similar attacks on other performers in recent months.
The Jaipal Bhullar gang, through a viral post attributed to Jenta Kharrad, an associate of Arsh Dalla, took credit for the shooting. The post also referenced the death of singer Sidhu Moosewala in 2022 and included remarks about jailed gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria.
According to the post, Dhillon had allegedly betrayed Moosewala after his death, criticizing him for his involvement with other artists and his association with the music label Geet Mp3.
This attack adds to a growing list of violent incidents in Canada targeting prominent Punjabi figures, including recent incidents involving performers AP Dhillon and Gippy Grewal, which were attributed to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Authorities in Canada are investigating the shooting, and no arrests have been made at this time.
