WASHINGTON, DC (ANI)– Singer Sid Sriram has announced a collaboration with Warner Music India, launching with the release of Sivanar, a devotional track dedicated to the Hindu God Murugan, as reported by Variety.

The song draws from Thiruppugazh, a 14th-century Tamil anthology written by poet Arunagirinathar. According to Sriram’s Instagram, Sivanar will be available on music platforms starting April 3.

Sriram shared that this song holds a special place in his heart, as it was one of the first, he fell in love with. “I heard my mother sing it, and I asked to learn it. It became my first portal to understanding what surrender felt like,” he told Variety.

Having performed Sivanar throughout his career—including at his acclaimed Coachella set last year—Sriram described the experience of singing it live as deeply emotional. “Every night, it felt like a beautiful exhale we all shared. The song evokes longing while also offering a sense of peace and understanding,” he added.

The music video, directed by Parasher Baruah, was filmed at the Batu Caves in Kuala Lumpur during Thaipusam, a major Hindu festival attended by over a million devotees. Reflecting on the shoot, Sriram called it a “humbling and inspiring” experience.

Sid Sriram is widely known for Srivalli, the hit song from Pushpa: The Rise, composed by Devi Sri Prasad.
