MUMBAI – Actor Sonu Sood’s directorial debut, Fateh, has made a strong impression with its compelling narrative, expertly choreographed action sequences, and acclaimed music. Released on January 10, the film grossed ₹21.18 crore in its first week and continues to perform well in its second.

Set against the backdrop of cybercrime, Fateh draws inspiration from real-life events during the COVID-19 pandemic. The film sheds light on issues like deepfakes and predatory instant loan apps that often exploit the vulnerable. Sood emphasized the importance of raising awareness about these threats, particularly for the elderly and younger generations.

The film’s high-octane action sequences were orchestrated by renowned stunt director Lee Whittaker, celebrated for his work in Captain Marvel and Fast & Furious 5. Filmed across Istanbul, Dubai, and the U.S., the stunts were meticulously planned. Sood, leveraging his experience in action films, spent months refining the sequences, including dedicating 2.5 months to perfect a single scene.

The film’s music, featuring Hans Zimmer’s track “To the Moon,” has added emotional depth to the story. The score has been praised for complementing the film’s tension and sentiment, enhancing the overall viewing experience.

Sood acknowledged the challenges of assembling a world-class team for his directorial debut but expressed pride in the outcome. “For my first film, I wanted to work with the best. It was challenging, but the results have been deeply rewarding,” he said.

Trade analysts have commended Fateh for proving that a strong story and creative execution can thrive on a modest ₹30 crore budget. Sood noted the positive reception, saying, “The support from fans has been incredible. Seeing audiences return to theaters for repeat viewings is immensely fulfilling.”

Beyond its commercial success, Fateh has sparked meaningful conversations about cybercrime, emphasizing the need for greater vigilance in the digital age.

Sood hinted at future directorial ventures, promising to continue exploring innovative storytelling.
