Stanford Drop Out Kaivalya Vohra Youngest On India’s Rich List

NEW DELHI – Kaivalya Vohra, a 21-year-old Stanford University dropout, has become the youngest person to feature on Hurun’s list of richest Indians. Vohra co-founded Zepto, a quick commerce app, alongside 22-year-old Aadit Palicha, who also made the list as the second youngest. Both were initially students at Stanford University, but they left their computer science program to dive into entrepreneurship.

In 2021, Vohra and Palicha launched Zepto during the COVID-19 pandemic to meet the rising demand for fast and contactless delivery of essential goods. Zepto quickly gained traction in India’s competitive grocery delivery market, where it faces tough competition from Amazon India, Swiggy, Blinkit, and BigBasket.

Vohra made his debut on the IIFL Wealth-Hurun India Rich List in 2022 at the age of 19 and has consistently appeared on the list since then.

The 2024 Hurun India Rich List shows India’s billionaire count has surpassed 300.

While Vohra and Palicha represent the youth, seasoned business figures like Gautam Adani, who topped the list with ₹11.6 lakh crore in wealth, and Radha Vembu, founder of Zoho Corporation, also feature prominently. Adani’s meteoric rise, despite challenges like the Hindenburg report, highlights the dynamic nature of wealth in India today. (agency reports)
