ASHBURN, VA – Former Representative Jennifer Wexton and U.S. Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine have endorsed U.S. Representative Suhas Subramanyam for reelection in Virginia’s 10th Congressional District, offering a unified show of support from the state’s top Democratic leaders.
Wexton, who flipped the district from Republican to Democratic control in 2018 and served in Congress until 2025, praised Subramanyam’s record of constituent service and local investment. She said Subramanyam has worked nonstop for the district, delivering millions of dollars back to constituents and supporting critical community projects. Wexton added that he has been effective in assisting residents during times of need and amplifying their voices in Washington.
Senator Mark Warner, who is leading the Democratic ticket in Virginia this year, highlighted Subramanyam’s role on the House Oversight Committee. Warner said Subramanyam has pushed back against corruption during the Trump administration and demonstrated a strong commitment to holding the administration accountable while standing up for Virginians.
Senator Tim Kaine said Subramanyam has remained focused on lowering costs and opposing policies he said would harm the economy, federal workers, and access to health care. Kaine described Subramanyam as a lawmaker who puts Virginians first and delivers results for his constituents.
Subramanyam welcomed the endorsements, saying he has spent the past year fighting what he described as attacks on the community, including efforts that took away health care, food assistance, and jobs from Virginians. He said he is eager to continue serving in Congress and to help build a Democratic majority focused on protecting democracy, addressing corruption, and reducing costs for families.
Since taking office in January 2025, Subramanyam has built a reputation for accessibility and responsiveness. In his first 100 days, he held a town hall in every county of the 10th District. His office has responded to more than 48,000 constituent letters and emails, resolved over 2,000 cases, and returned more than $3 million to constituents, the campaign said.
Subramanyam has introduced 19 bills, many with bipartisan support, and has signed onto more than 500 bills and letters. He has also secured more than $15 million in federal funding for local projects across the district.
The 10th District race was among the most competitive contests in the 2024 election cycle. Democrats view holding the seat as critical to their efforts to retake the House in 2026.
Subramanyam represents Virginia’s 10th Congressional District and is the first Indian American elected to Congress from the East Coast. He previously served in the Virginia House of Delegates and State Senate. He lives in Ashburn with his wife Miranda and their two daughters.
