Sunjay Kapur, Karisma Kapoor’s Ex-Husband, Dies After Swallowing A Bee

MUMBAI- Sunjay Kapur, a prominent industrialist, billionaire, and the former husband of actress Karisma Kapoor, has passed away at the age of 53. He was a US citizen, according to reports.

Kapur, reportedly collapsed during a polo match in England on June 12 after accidentally swallowing a bee. The sting on his mouth is said to have induced anaphylactic shock, leading to a fatal heart attack.

Kapur was the Chairman of Sona Comstar, a global auto components manufacturer. He assumed leadership of the company in 2015 following the death of his father, Surinder Kapur, who founded the enterprise in 1995.

Headquartered in Gurugram, Sona Comstar operates 12 manufacturing facilities and employs over 5,000 people across multiple countries. Forbes reported his net worth at $1.2 billion at the time of his death.

Kapur’s personal life often garnered public attention due to his marriage to actress Karisma Kapoor in 2003. The couple, who had two children, daughter Samaira and son Kiaan, finalized their divorce in 2016 after a highly publicized and contentious separation that included a domestic violence case filed by Karisma.

Kapur was also married to fashion designer Nandita Mahtani and former model Priya Sachdev, with whom he had a son, Azarias, and adopted her daughter from a previous marriage. (With IANS inputs)
