NEW DELHI – Swami Swaroopananda, the global head of Chinmaya Mission, officially invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the grand finale of the Chinmaya Movement’s 75 year celebrations, scheduled to be held at Bharat Mandapam here, in October.

The invitation was extended during a special meeting on March 19, where Swami Swaroopananda outlined plans for the Global Sammelan, set for October 23 to 25. The event is expected to bring together thousands of members of the Chinmaya community from around the world in a spirit of devotion and reflection.

Modi welcomed the invitation and reminisced about his meeting with Swami Chinmayananda in Vadodara in the early 1990s, underscoring his longstanding association with the spiritual leader and the organization’s legacy.

During the meeting, Swami Swaroopananda highlighted several global initiatives marking the 75 year milestone. These include the Gita Panchamrit, worldwide Samashti Gita chanting, Hanuman Chalisa havans, and the Chinmaya Amrit Yatra across India. Outreach efforts are also planned across 75 locations in Europe, along with events such as the Thames Ganga Aarti in the United Kingdom and tours in Australia and the United States.

Marking the occasion of the Hindu New Year and Chaitra Navaratri, Swami Swaroopananda presented the prime minister with a collection of Chinmaya publications as well as a new Hindi Gita musical album composed by the famed music Southern music director, Ilaiyaraaja.

The meeting reflected a shared spiritual legacy and a continued effort to inspire future generations through the teachings and initiatives of the Chinmaya Movement, the Mission said.
