LOS ANGELES, CA – Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2023 is about to get a dose of irreverent comedy as the highly anticipated film “Thank You For Coming,” produced by Ektaa R Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor, is announced as an Official Selection for the event. Kept under wraps until now, it marks the powerhouse duo’s latest collaboration after the success of “Veere Di Wedding.”
“Thank You For Coming” promises to be a raucous coming-of-age comedy that defies conventions. With an ensemble cast that includes Bhumi Pednekar, Shehnaaz Gill, Dolly Singh, and a special appearance by Anil Kapoor, the film offers a fresh and bold perspective on contemporary relationships and desires, a press release said.
Directed by Karan Boolani and penned by Radhika Anand and Prashasti Singh, “Thank You For Coming” follows the journey of Kanika Kapoor, a single woman in her thirties, as she embarks on a quest for true love and pleasure, all with a side of humor and heart.
The film is the only Hindi feature to have a grand gala premiere at TIFF this year. Rhea Kapoor, said, “It is a film for this generation, and we feel extremely honored to have the world premiere of our film at TIFF 2023. Even with its unconventional storyline and bold point of view, this movie is an out-and-out Bollywood entertainer, full of masti and music, so it makes this selection that much sweeter!”
Ektaa R Kapoor, joint managing director of Balaji Telefilms Ltd., stated, “This project holds a special place in my heart, and I am eagerly anticipating the moment when I can present it to a discerning global audience.”
Following its TIFF premiere, the film is set to release in theaters worldwide on October 6, 2023.
