WASHINGTON, DC- Congressman Tom Suozzi has been appointed Democratic Vice-Chair of the bipartisan Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans, a leadership role that reflects his longstanding efforts to strengthen U.S.-India relations, a media statement said.
Suozzi has served on the caucus for years and has worked to deepen ties between Washington and New Delhi through congressional engagement and visits to India. Last year, he became the first sitting member of the U.S. Congress to visit the Kartarpur Corridor. He also represents a district spanning Long Island and Queens that is home to a large Indian American community, according to a media release.
The appointment was announced by Caucus Chairman Ro Khanna, who cited Suozzi’s longstanding engagement with the Indian American community and his work to strengthen ties between the United States and India.
“I am honored to be named Vice-Chair of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans,” Suozzi said. “My district is home to a large and vibrant Indian American community, and I am proud of the longstanding relationships and friendships I have built over many years.”.
