Trump Team Freezes Climate Funds, Targeting Blue States
India-West News Desk
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Trump administration announced on October 1 that it is canceling nearly $8 billion in federal funding designated for climate-related projects in states led by Democrats.
The states affected by the cancellation include California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington—all of which were lost by Donald Trump.
The move was revealed by Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought on the same day the federal government entered a shutdown after Congress failed to approve a temporary funding measure.
Earlier in the day, Vought also disclosed that approximately $18 billion in federal funds for two major infrastructure projects in New York City had been frozen, CNBC reported.
In a post describing the funding cuts, Vought characterized the canceled climate funds as supporting what he called “the Left’s climate agenda.”
