Tulsi Gabbard’s Confirmation Hearing Delayed

WASHINGTON, DC – Senator John Barrasso said on January 13 in a television interview that Tulsi Gabbard confirmation hearing, as nominee for Director of National Intelligence, has been delayed due to a “paperwork problem” with the Office of Government Ethics.

The delay comes as several of Trump’s other nominees are scheduled for confirmation hearings. Before a confirmation vote, Tulsi Gabbard must first appear before the Senate Intelligence Committee, which requires all necessary paperwork to be submitted at least one week before the hearing.

Gabbard, who served in the U.S. Army National Guard and is a former congresswoman from Hawaii, has faced scrutiny and controversy over her views on Russia, former Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad, and other U.S. adversaries, along with what critics say is lack of experience in intelligence.

Barrasso however said he’s confident there will be enough votes for her confirmation.

Tulsi Gabbard meanwhile, CBS News reported, has been working closely with Senator Tom Cotton to schedule the hearing and is continuing to meet with senators as the confirmation process moves forward.
