US Clarifies: No New Missiles Supply For Pakistan

NEW DELHI — The US Embassy in India issued a statement on October 10 clarifying that a recent amendment to an American Foreign Military Sales contract involving Pakistan does not include deliveries of new Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAMs). The modification is limited to sustainment, spare parts, and maintenance support for existing systems.

The clarification follows earlier reports suggesting Islamabad had been added as a recipient of newly produced AMRAAMs under a September 30 Department of War contract announcement. Several media outlets interpreted the amendment as a potential arms supply of new missiles to Pakistan.

The US Embassy emphasized that “contrary to false media reports, no part of this referenced contract modification is for deliveries of new AMRAAMs to Pakistan,” and that the sustainment package “does not include an upgrade to any of Pakistan’s current capabilities.”

The US reiterated that the amendment concerns logistics, spare parts, maintenance, and sustainment of existing systems already in Pakistan’s possession, with no enhancement or upgrade to its arsenal.

The clarification comes amid evolving US-Pakistan relations, where defense cooperation has drawn heightened scrutiny in India. (IANS)

  • USA supporting terrorists while talking of TWO DEMOCRACIES must partner for democracies. How ironic!!!!

Besides, we will never know what is actually shipped and stored until terrorists strike with them at the heart of your family and friends.
