US Sanctions 4 Indian Firms Over Iran Trade, Adding Pressure On New Delhi

NEW DELHI – The United States has sanctioned four India-based companies and three Indians over dealings involving Iranian petroleum and petrochemical products.

The State Department has on its list customs broker Portease Partners, and Indian nationals Indrismiya Ashrafmiya Sheikh and Harish Ramachandra Rangi. Washington accused Portease Partners of facilitating multiple shipments of Iranian petrochemical products to India.

Also named in the sanctions are Sadashiva Overseas Limited, PP Softtech Private Limited and Prakrutees Infra Impex India Private Limited. Prashant Garg, director of PP Softtech, was also sanctioned.

US authorities said Sadashiva Overseas imported about $69 million worth of Iranian petroleum products between February 2024 and June 2025. PP Softtech was accused of importing about $25 million worth between January 2024 and June 2025, while Prakrutees Infra Impex was linked to roughly $25 million in imports between May 2023 and February 2026.

The India-linked designations form part of a broader US sanctions package covering nearly 60 entities, individuals and vessels.

Indian exports including rice, tea and pharmaceuticals could also face difficulties if US sanctions further complicate payments, shipping and financial transactions involving Iran.

The sanctions come amid existing strains in US-India relations over tariffs and Russia.
