COLUMBUS, OH – Vivek Ramaswamy is gearing up for a run for Ohio governor in 2026, enlisting key advisers from Vice President J.D. Vance’s political team to help with his campaign. A source familiar with the matter confirmed to The Hill that Ramaswamy has brought on top political strategists from Vance’s team ahead of his expected bid.

Before Vance was selected, Ramaswamy was also considered for Trump’s vice-presidential slot.

NBC News first reported that Ramaswamy and Vance had been in talks over the past two weeks, signaling Vance’s team is throwing its support behind Ramaswamy’s gubernatorial aspirations. Ramaswamy is expected to officially launch his campaign in mid-February, aiming to succeed term-limited Republican Governor Mike DeWine.

Among the Vance advisers joining Ramaswamy’s team is Jai Chabria. Ramaswamy, an entrepreneur and staunch Trump supporter, hadstepped down from his role as co-leader of the federal “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) commission.

Ohio Republican Attorney General Dave Yost has already declared his candidacy for governor, aligning himself with former President Trump’s agenda. Trump won Ohio by 11 points in 2024.

  • He should not have axepted the side kick job with Musk, instead he should have gone for a cabinet position, where there was a Congressional confirmation, but now he has taken a completely different route and ending up as Governor, it is not the same as being part of the Trump adminstration. He could have achieved so much on the Federal level instead of one state. He is wasting his talent and expertise
