CINCINNATI, OH – According to a Newsweek report, Vivek Ramaswamy is facing a difficult stretch in his bid for the Ohio governorship as new polling data indicates he is trailing Democrat Amy Acton.

Despite Ohio’s recent history of shifting toward the Republican party, the former presidential candidate has seen a double blow in recent surveys.

A Quantus Insights poll conducted in mid-March shows Acton holding a narrow lead with 45.9 percent of the vote compared to 44.9 percent for Ramaswamy. This survey of 809 likely voters suggests a highly fluid electorate where neither candidate has yet captured a majority of the public’s support.

The Newsweek report further highlights that this is the second time in a week that Ramaswamy has found himself behind in the polls. An earlier survey from the Ohio Environmental Council showed a much wider gap, placing him ten points behind Acton at 43 percent to her 53 percent.

While Ramaswamy has secured significant endorsements from the state party and the current administration, the polling suggests that the Democratic focus on the former health director’s record is gaining some early traction.

Even with these numbers, many political forecasters still lean toward a Republican victory in the state come November, Newsweek noted.

The primary is on May 5, 2026.
