Watch: Aryan Makes Directorial Debut With Netflix Series
MUMBAI- The first look of the upcoming Netflix series The Ba**ds of Bollywood* was unveiled on August 17, marking the directorial debut of Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
The teaser opens with a voiceover evoking a romantic, Mohabbatein-like mood, only to abruptly shift into something bolder and more cutting. What begins as familiar Hindi film nostalgia quickly gets turned on its head. Aryan himself then appears on screen, declaring:
“Bollywood — jisse aapne saalon se pyaar bhi kiya aur vaar bhi kiya, main bhi wohi karunga, bohot saara pyaar… aur thoda sa vaar.”
Set against a quintessentially filmy backdrop, the series promises a generational shift — where the romance of Bollywood’s past collides with the irreverent vision of a new storyteller. Described as genre-bending, The Ba**ds of Bollywood* blends self-awareness with tongue-in-cheek humor.
This is also the first time Aryan has been seen in such a direct creative role. In an earlier promotional video, he was shown directing his father, Shah Rukh Khan. The playful clip featured SRK growing exasperated at repeated retake requests before turning to the crew and quipping that they should “watch and learn” from him.
That promo marked Aryan’s first on-screen appearance in fictional content. The new series stars Lakshya and Sahher Bambba in lead roles, alongside cameo appearances by Salman Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Karan Johar, and Ranveer Singh.
Produced by Gauri Khan under Red Chillies Entertainment, The Ba**ds of Bollywood* will soon premiere on Netflix. (IANS)
