Welcome To The Ring: Trump Bullies, Mamdani Punches Back
India-West News Desk
NEW YORK, NY – Zohran Mamdani isn’t backing down. The newly confirmed Democratic nominee for New York City mayor is facing blistering attacks from President Donald Trump—but says he won’t be silenced.
At an immigration roundtable in Florida on July 1, Trump launched into a tirade against Mamdani, calling him “a lunatic,” “a pure, true communist,” and “a total nut job.” The President also floated the outrageous idea of arresting him, stripping his citizenship, and deporting him, saying, “We don’t need a communist in this country… we’ll have to arrest him.”
Mamdani, who came to the U.S. from Uganda in 1998 as a child, responded firmly: “The President of the United States just threatened to have me arrested, stripped of my citizenship, put in a detention camp and deported—not because I have broken any law, but because I will refuse to let ICE terrorize our city. I will not accept this intimidation.”
He added: “His statements are not just an attack on me, but a warning to every New Yorker who refuses to hide in the shadows: if you speak up, they will come for you.”
Trump’s remarks came just hours after Mamdani officially secured the Democratic nomination. The President also revived a favorite conspiracy tactic—questioning the legality of Mamdani’s citizenship—and suggested the government would “look over everything.”

What a crazy, lunatic President we have. He’s the lunatic here, big ugly bully. It’s a damn shame that republicans have no backbone and at his beck and call
