What’s The Secret To The 20 Year Mohit Suri-Mithoon Collaboration?

MUMBAI (IANS) -Director Mohit Suri, known for films like ‘Aashiqui 2’, ‘Awarapan’, and ‘Ek Villain’, has revealed a cardinal rule about his music sittings with composer Mithoon, a practice he started two decades ago and maintains to this day.

Mohit shared that he always travels to music composer Mithoon’s office for their creative sessions, rather than having Mithoon come to his place. Their collaboration spans 20 years, beginning with the film ‘Woh Lamhe’.

When asked about how their two-decade-long creative partnership has evolved and influenced their latest song, ‘Dhun’, from the upcoming movie ‘Saiyaara’, Mohit said, “It feels like yesterday, when I met him at MHADA. Even today, when I go to his studio, I have maintained that I will always go to his office and jam with him.”

Explaining the reason behind this unique rule, Mohit said: “I find that place a little pious. I feel like there is a lot, I don’t know, something is made there. We have done a great job there. Even I get surprised by myself in that place. I don’t know what is it. It’s a flat in MHADA where his studio is. It’s just something that I get cut off from the rest of the world. We can only talk about music, we can only talk about the story there.”

Earlier, Mohit described ‘Saiyaara’ as an homage to the love stories he has cherished growing up. While his previous films were primarily under the Vishesh Films banner, ‘Saiyaara’ marks his first collaboration with Yash Raj Films.
