WASHINGTON, DC – Now  President Donald Trump’s allies are making a push to cast him as a global peacemaker, claiming credit for the India-Pakistan cessation of hostilities. After trying to broker truces in Ukraine and Gaza which has not made headway for him, this seemed like a victory he can grasp.

The effort to frame Trump as an international dealmaker gained traction this week when White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt shared a striking anecdote from a breakfast in Doha. In a post on X, Leavitt said a Kashmiri waiter approached her to personally thank Trump for his role in de-escalating the latest military standoff between India and Pakistan.

“This morning at breakfast, my waiter told me to thank President Trump for him,” Leavitt wrote. “I asked him why. He told me he is from Kashmir and had been unable to return home in recent weeks due to the India-Pakistan conflict. He just got news he could finally go back—because of the ceasefire.”

According to Leavitt, the waiter credited U.S. intervention for the breakthrough and claimed Trump was being underappreciated for “literally preventing a nuclear war.” Leavitt echoed this sentiment, hailing the ceasefire as a diplomatic milestone achieved by Trump, Vice President, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

“Thanks to the ceasefire mediated by President Trump, @VP & @SecRubio,” she posted, framing the development as a direct result of U.S. diplomacy.

However, Indian officials have dismissed these assertions. Government sources in New Delhi clarified that the ceasefire emerged from a direct agreement between the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan, with no involvement from third parties.

Despite the pushback, Leavitt portrayed the episode as evidence of Trump’s growing global stature as a dealmaker. “President Trump inherited so many conflicts around the globe, and he is tackling them one at a time,” she said. “This historic trip to the Middle East has marked a significant turn in U.S. foreign policy in the region that will finally usher in the Golden Age of the Middle East!”

An eager Trump is now reportedly eyeing Iran as the next stage for his “peace through strength” diplomacy.
