Whole Wheat Donuts
Ingredients
- 2 cups Royal® Chakki Atta
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- ½ cup warm milk
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 2 tbsp oats
- 2 tbsp honey
- Salt, to taste
- Oil (for kneading and frying, if deep frying)
- 1 tsp baking powder
Preparation
- Place the warm milk in a bowl, add the yeast and sugar, and set aside in a warm place until frothy.
- In another bowl, combine Royal® Chakki Atta, baking powder, and salt. Sieve and set aside.
- Once the yeast mixture is frothy, add it to the flour mixture and knead into a soft dough.
- Add a little oil to make the dough non-sticky. Knead well, cover with cling film, and let it rest for 1 hour or until it rises.
- Once the dough has risen, knead it again. Roll it out and cut into donut shapes using a donut cutter.
- Place the donuts on a tray, cover with a cloth, and let them rest for 30 minutes.
- Cook the donuts:
- To fry: Deep fry in hot oil until golden brown.
- To bake: Bake at 180°C (350°F) until cooked through and lightly golden.
- Glaze the donuts with honey and sprinkle oats on top.
- Serve warm with coffee or tea.
