HICKSVILLE, NY – World Vegan Vision held its annual Vegan Thanksgiving Celebration brought together plant-based advocates, health enthusiasts, and community members at Antun’s by Minar here, for a memorable afternoon of education, gratitude, and vegan dining.

The event highlighted the organization’s mission to promote a plant-based lifestyle for better health and environmental stewardship.

A keynote address by Dr. Pritesh Mutha, gastroenterologist and lifestyle medicine expert, was the centerpiece of the celebration. Dr. Mutha’s presentation, titled “Unlocking Gut Health: A Natural Way to Reverse Diseases,” captivated the audience with actionable insights into the vital role of the gut microbiome in overall health. He explained that the gut influences 80% of bodily functions, including immunity and digestion, and highlighted the importance of a high-fiber, plant-based diet in maintaining gut health.

Mutha urged attendees to incorporate a diverse array of 30 plant-based foods weekly, embracing a colorful “Rainbow Diet” rich in fruits, vegetables, legumes, grains, nuts, and seeds.

In his address, he underscored the harmful effects of animal products, processed foods, and dairy on gut integrity and inflammation, advocating for plant-based alternatives like almond, soy, and oat milk. He also stressed the importance of lifestyle practices, such as quality sleep, daily exercise, and mindfulness techniques like meditation, as essential components of gut health. Exposure to nature, he added, helps diversify gut bacteria and strengthens immunity.

The event concluded with remarks from Rakesh Bhargava, President of World Vegan Vision’s New York Chapter, who praised the gathering as more than a celebration of Thanksgiving. “This event was a powerful reminder of the importance of compassion, health, and sustainability,” he said.

World Vegan Vision, founded by Malti and HK Shah, continues to champion a plant-based lifestyle as a pathway to improved health and environmental consciousness.
