Yami Gautam Reflects On Journey, Ambition, Bollywood Break With Vicky Donor
MUMBAI (ANI)- Yami Gautam, who has spent over a decade in the industry, recently reflected on her journey and how she landed her first Bollywood film.
Discussing the evolving nature of ambition, she shared, “Satisfaction is elusive. When you achieve a goal, it no longer feels like the ultimate accomplishment. My aspirations from ten years ago were different from what they are today. Whenever I read a script, I approach it as if I’m being offered a role for the first time.”
Expressing gratitude for the recognition she has received, Yami added, “It has been a journey… I feel good when people appreciate my work. I have no complaints. This is a path one must travel alone, whether you’re from the industry or an outsider. Ultimately, the audience decides your fate.”
Recalling how she got her Bollywood break with Vicky Donor, she revealed, “I got the role through an audition. Jogi ji, our casting director, initially called me for another film, but that didn’t work out. Then he mentioned Vicky Donor and asked me to audition with a few lines. There was something about the film that excited me.”
The 2012 film, co-starring Ayushmann Khurrana, was widely praised for tackling taboo subjects with a progressive approach.
Most recently, Yami starred in Dhoom Dhaam, which premiered on Valentine’s Day. The film was produced by her husband, Aditya Dhar, alongside Lokesh Dhar and Jyoti Deshpande. She also earned widespread acclaim for her role in Article 370.
