Zelensky Thanks Modi, Looks To India For Role In Ending War

NEW DELHI – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 26 for his Independence Day greetings and highlighted India’s potential role in ending the war with Russia.
In a social media post, Zelensky said Ukraine values India’s commitment to “peace and dialogue” and added, “Now, as the entire world strives to end this horrible war with dignity and lasting peace, we count on India’s contribution.”
Modi had earlier wished the people of Ukraine a future of peace and progress, posting on X: “Thank you President Zelensky for your warm greetings. We earnestly wish our friends in Ukraine a future marked by peace, progress and prosperity.”
Zelensky also shared a letter from Modi dated August 24, thanking him for his “thoughtful message” on India’s Independence Day, reflecting the ongoing diplomatic goodwill between the two countries.
