Ashvin Dayal Named Chief Operating Officer Of Rockefeller Foundation

NEW YORK, NY -Ashvin Dayal has been appointed Chief Operating Officer of The Rockefeller Foundation and will assume the role August 1, succeeding outgoing COO Natalye Paquin, who is retiring after nearly four years with the organization.
Dayal joined the foundation in 2008 and most recently served as Senior Vice President for Power, overseeing several global energy initiatives. In his new role, he will lead the foundation’s operations across finance, legal affairs, human resources, information technology and foundation services, in addition to overseeing offices and teams across the United States, Africa, Asia, Colombia and Italy.
He will also become president of RF Catalytic Capital, the foundation’s charitable entity focused on directing funding toward global development initiatives and strategic projects.
Announcing the appointment \, Rockefeller Foundation President Rajiv J. Shah said Dayal had demonstrated an ability to build long-term partnerships, develop teams and strengthen operations during his 17 years at the organization.”
Shah said Dayal would help ensure the foundation has the systems, structure and talent needed to respond to global challenges.
In a statement released by the foundation, Dayal said he looked forward to strengthening the organization’s internal systems and partnerships while supporting its long-standing mission of improving lives globally.
Before taking on the COO role, Dayal helped lead the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet, an international partnership focused on expanding electricity access and supporting energy projects across developing countries.
The initiative, launched in 2021, operates in more than 30 countries through partnerships involving governments, development banks, investors and philanthropic organizations.
Prior to joining The Rockefeller Foundation, Dayal spent more than 15 years with Oxfam in Asia, Europe and the middle east, including work related to recovery operations following the 2004 Asian tsunami.
He previously led the foundation’s regional office in Bangkok and directed the Asian Cities Climate Change Resilience Network; a program focused on helping cities prepare for climate-related risks.
Dayal holds degrees from the SOAS University of London and Johns Hopkins University.
