SANTA CLARA, CA-Arista Networks CEO Jayshree Ullal has claimed the seventh spot on the 2026 Forbes list of America’s Richest Self-Made Women. With a net worth estimated at $6.8 billion, she is the highest-ranked woman of Indian origin on the index. Her significant wealth is a result of long-term executive leadership and stock ownership, specifically her roughly 3% stake in Arista, portions of which she has set aside for her two children, niece, and nephew.
Her professional foundation was built on technical expertise, starting with her education in the United States, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from San Francisco State University and a master’s degree in engineering management from Santa Clara University. Born in London and raised in New Delhi, she began her career at semiconductor companies Fairchild Semiconductor and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). She subsequently spent 15 years as a senior executive at Cisco Systems, where she collaborated with then-CEO John Chambers during the period when the company helped drive the global expansion of the internet.
A pivotal career move occurred in 2008 when Ullal joined Arista Networks as president and CEO. At the time, the business was a startup with no revenue and fewer than 50 employees. Despite market dominance by incumbents like Cisco, Ullal pivoted the company to focus on high-performance networking for the emerging cloud computing sector. This vision fueled rapid growth, culminating in a successful 2014 initial public offering (IPO) on the New York Stock Exchange.
Today, Arista is a critical infrastructure supplier for the artificial intelligence industry. As massive investments flow into AI data centers, Arista’s high-speed networking equipment has become essential, driving the company to approximately $9 billion in revenue in 2024.
Beyond Arista, Ullal serves on the board of directors for the cloud-computing firm Snowflake. Industry observers frequently attribute her success to her ability to pair deep technical expertise with strategic leadership, marking her as a central figure in the evolution of modern technology.
