Did Rubio Call Trump Stupid? State Department Quietly Deletes The Video
India-West New Desk
WASHINGTON, DC -The U.S. State Department removed a social media post featuring Secretary of State Marco Rubio after online criticism over remarks he made while responding to questions about anti-India rhetoric in America.
During a press conference in New Delhi, Rubio was asked about racist comments directed at Indians in the US, including President Donald Trump sharing a post that referred to India as a “hellhole.”
Responding to the question, Rubio said, “Every country in the world has stupid people who say dumb things.”
The clip was later posted on the State Department’s official social media account before being deleted. The controversy emerged after social media users pointed out that the remarks appeared to indirectly reference Trump because the original post Rubio was responding to had been amplified by the president.
The episode also renewed attention on Trump’s repeated use of terms such as “stupid” and “low IQ” against political rivals, judges, prosecutors, journalists, and former aides.

One has to view Rubio’s visit from a broader angle, that is 1) primaries coming up soon and he is one of the leading contender; 2) Significant India origin diaspora in US in key states who can tilt a state’s election to his favor in general as well as primaries; 3)Indian diaspora has significant wealth, also means seeking donors for his campaign. JD might have scorched his chances being tied to Trump as his no 2, seconding his tariff wars, Iran supply logistics issue for India. At this point, Mr Rubio doesn’t mind being neglected in terms of protocol as long as he is able to accomplish these agenda items. Even JD could have chosen to come, then again that was JD’s choice. 4 days trip is pretty significant.
