Urologist Denies Guilt As He Faces Sexual Battery Charges

MIAMI, FL – Former University of Miami urologist Dr. Ranjith Ramasamy has denied allegations that he sexually assaulted medical students by performing inappropriate prostate examinations after surrendering to authorities following his return from Dubai.

Ramasamy, 45, surrendered at Miami International Airport after returning from the United Arab Emirates, where he had been working at a clinic, according to court records. He appeared in Miami-Dade Bond Court that afternoon, posted a $120,000 bond and was placed under house arrest. Judge Mindy Glazer also ordered him to stay away from the alleged victims.

“I never sexually assaulted anyone, never,” Ramasamy said in a statement on August 21.

Ramasamy has been wanted since October 2025, when a judge issued an arrest warrant. He faces three counts of sexual battery and has pleaded not guilty.

He previously served as a professor of urology at the University of Miami and director of male reproductive medicine and surgery. According to the warrant, he is accused of sexually assaulting students as far back as 2016.

Three students told detectives that Ramasamy, who had diagnosed them with different conditions, performed prostate examinations that were “much longer and aggressive” than regular exams, according to the warrant.

The warrant states that Ramasamy did not document the procedures in the students’ medical charts. It also cites at least three other people who gave detectives similar accounts.

“None of these procedures were medically indicated, they were performed in a manner inconsistent with the standard of care, alone and after normal business hours, and fall far outside the acceptable bounds of any medical practice,” detectives said in the warrant.

Ramasamy said the allegations came from what he described as “disgruntled members of the university community.”

Ramasamy said he moved to Dubai before criminal charges were brought against him and agreed to return voluntarily after learning of the charges.
