Satish Shah Honored With Posthumous Padma Shri

MUMBAI- Veteran actor Satish Shah was posthumously conferred the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian honor, in recognition of his contributions to Indian cinema, television, and theatre.

The award was accepted on his behalf by his cousin, Arvind Mamania, during the ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Actors Rupali Ganguly and Deven Bhojani paid emotional tributes to Satish Shah following the honor, saying they wished he had been present to receive the Padma Shri himself.

“We’re so proud but miss you so much Satish ji. Wish you’re there to receive the accolade yourself!” Bhojani wrote. Ganguly added, “Wish he was there to receive it himself …… most deserving but a little late …. Kaka ….”

Satish Shah, known for his comic timing and memorable performances, appeared in films including ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’, ‘Main Hoon Na’, ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’, ‘Om Shanti Om’ and ‘Fanaa’. He was also widely loved for his portrayal of Indravadan Sarabhai in the television sitcom ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’.

The actor passed away on October 25, 2025, at the age of 74. (IANS)
